Dealing with Destiny
Whether polysyllabic words have a seductive effect, everyone has its own amorous triggers. I don’t mean about those gushy- mushy stuff romance novels are made off , Ideas, men! While most would fall for the Adonis- like features and Herculean facets or the trailing zeroes on one’s account– I go for something real, I go for something deep - The character and the intellect.. I am very much of an idealist and he a pragmatist.. Get the picture. As what would the late great John Lennon would sing. “ You may say I’m a dreamer… but I’m not the only one…..” We are at the opposite ends. Its like a pull, a tension between the opposites. Its like breakfast with your “ sinangag and mangga” , or “tuyo in your champorado” , its kinda weird (even for me) ..hey, but it works… it taste great , they compliment.. Like yin and yang. Its like feng-shui. Theres harmony. At first, I must admit not everyone likes the idea of me with him. We’re just too different.. All things have its own way of working, some sort of balance … and US being together raises a few eyebrows, well --- a lot.
“Statistics shows most relationship doesn’t last and the reason being is that there seems to be a lack of commonality.” I read it somewhere in a popular female mag. A thought. Can you picture marrying another version of you? ” Me and my shadow.” “Replica or your very own Clone”.? Everyone loves sinigang , either your souring agent is tamarind, calamansi, guava ( take your pick) or with porcine, bovine or my favorite - shrimp, while we are at it, throw in your veggie: kangkong, okra, sitaw, radish, taro or mustard etc.., the point is you’ll go nuts having it 3 square meals a day, 7 days a week.. I dare you! Let see how your puked-facial features says it all.
My guy.:
He’s a maverick of all sorts, whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts have afforded him a great deal of respect or disgust. He’s got this acerbic brutally honest demeanor and an unaffected way … like a runner in a race vying for the win, a donkey eyeing the carrot stringed on a stick, but of course, he’s not an ass ( figuratively or literally – clear?). What I am saying is that he’s got a one-track mind. With his infamous one-liners “ Emotion is for the weak”, “My son will be molded with the same maternal instincts..”, When diplomacy fails, beat the hell out of him”…no wonder… tsk…But seriously, he’s not showing it all, of course – not for you… Even superman falls weak with kryptonite. Although, he would much prefer to be compared to Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker.C’mon, he’s like mentos – underneath the white round menthol flavored hard- candy coating is a sweet, soft, chewy, breathe-freshening, gummy, yummy, comforting taste. He’s cool. Oh yeah…The stuff, I’m telling you about… it takes time… You got to get to the core…There is more to him what he projects.
On Being Married. Being married is hard. Don't be fooled by the oversimplified, saccharine approach you saw on movies... well, its quite like it.. only the top part...When you are young you drew a picture perfect map of how your love and life should be...girlfriend, no matter how much you plan and prepared for this day, somehow its not that perfect. Forget Paris. The sooner you moved out of you romanced laced idea the better off you’d be, chances are you could make it after all. ( I think). Reality bites.. it sure does.
The Best Of Times
We’re like your modern time distorted version of “When Harry Met Sally”. So when you saw the film.. you know it ends well with the two marrying each other and growing old together. Its not all happy days…though most days are filled with humorous events but just like any other couple.. we did try our best and still are. At times, tears do fall in biblical proportion, of course, I could be a drama queen but I guess, everyone is, once in a while . Nine years now, and looking forward for more.
“The best of times are when I'm alone with you
Some rain some shine, we'll make this a world for two
Our memories of yesterday will last a lifetime
We'll take the best, forget the rest
And someday we'll find these are the best of times
These are the best of times”…Styx

Holiday Spread Countdown
Christmas is not as festive as in my hometown, especially during my growing up years, Anticipating the gifts under the christmas tree and treats inside your stockings.. the meals your loved ones prepared and relatives who drops by made the house more alive and the air- jolly. Now that we are all grown-up and married, my siblings and I do talk about those days and how we are .. where we are at now, checking everyone out... if you really are in a good place and happy.. You know, stuffs... like how you handled domestic chores, reminiscing.." those were tha days" kinda-things..like the last picture all of us where together was way back when our eldest sibling got married, how we love to eat yet dread to cook and tidy-ing up, the teasings and the rants... Christmas is the time when we all slow down and connect. So in one of our many conversation, the topic of my culinary skills was questioned. I learned that you can sautee just about anything in garlic, onions and tomato and if you know the taste.. you can replicate it somehow. I am no chef but i do learn to cook meals and that is pretty impressive esp. when you learn how clueless i was before.
At that time, I was oblivious of the fact that it is actually the 24th instead of 23.My hubby was rained by customer calls until midnight that i resigned to the fact that i shouldn't be wasting my effort preparing the meal... so my holiday spread will be featured one at a time --- Choy feast your eyes on this !
